Identify the boat and exact location
Include the make, model, approximate length and marina or berth location. Pronautic’s target service corridor covers Muggia, the Slovenian coast and western Istria from Umag south to the Pula area. A place within that corridor is a starting point for an enquiry, not a guarantee that every task is available at every berth.
Share detailed access instructions privately after the work arrangement is agreed. Ask the marina about any access or contractor requirements that apply to your boat. Do not assume that permission at one marina applies at another.
Show the issue clearly
Send one photograph that locates the problem and one that shows the detail. Include the equipment model where relevant and explain when the issue appeared. If there has been previous work, provide the useful service record or describe it accurately.
State the result you need without guessing the diagnosis. ‘Investigate this leak before our next visit’ gives a clearer starting point than requesting a replacement part that may not address the cause. For cosmetic work, name the surfaces and the finish you hope to achieve.
Separate timing from urgency
Give your next arrival date and any flexible work window. Explain whether the boat can be moved or lifted if the assessment shows that is necessary. If you do not know, record it as a question.
A request date does not confirm availability. Agree the scope, access, quotation and schedule before relying on completion. Ask how changes will be approved if inspection reveals additional work. Keep third-party work and costs visible in the arrangement.
Finish with a clear handover
Name the person who approves work and the preferred communication route. Ask for a concise completion record, including anything not completed or not tested. If the boat remains unattended, update its care instructions to reflect the work.
You can use the checklist below to prepare an enquiry for maintenance, detailing, underwater work or ongoing care. The brief should be short enough to read easily but precise enough to avoid assumptions. That balance is particularly valuable when the owner, the boat and the person doing the work are in different places.
A useful enquiry answers where, what, when and who decides—without pretending the diagnosis is already known.
